POST 5: CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

Hello! Today I will talk about some changes that they would make in the career I study: Chemistry. Since I previously studied another career (Civil Engineering), I notice several things in which the program or career and the teaching methodology lagged behind, or are methodologies that they consider obsolete. One of them is that at the end of the semester they delete all the material uploaded to the platform of the classes studied, and the truth is that I do not understand why. It is a material that over the years would be very useful for future generations, since it would serve as extra study material to what is already delivered in the courses (which is very little). Another thing to consider is that attendance at assistantships is mandatory. I think it's stupid, since in terms of university and teaching, each student should watch over how they distribute their study time. In addition to that, some teachers and assistants, the only thing they do is read the exposed slides, for w...

POST 4: TIME TRAVEL TO THE PAST OR FUTURE

Goodnight! Today I will write about the trip to the past that I would like to do. Why the past and not the future? Because it is something that I already know and I would go to a safe place. I would like to go back to when I was a child, exactly when I was about 10 years old and they were going to change schools. Why this decision? Because when I was old they changed me to a school that I didn't like and from there I feel that everything went wrong. I would go with my mom, so she could see the drastic changes that would happen in my life if I hadn't changed schools and be able to be with her at all times until we reached the age we would have been in the future of the past, or rather, the present I would take advantage of doing all the things I did not do well, all the mistakes I made I would not make them again, and I would try to enjoy life to the fullest. In addition, it would be beneficial because he would have all the knowledge that he would not have had in the past. I wou...

POST 3: MY DREAM JOB

Today, I'm going to talk about my dream job. A few years ago, I was studying engineering at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at the Universidad de Chile. One of the reasons why I changed my career is because I couldn't imagine working in an office enclosed within four walls in the future. To this day, I am studying Chemistry at this faculty. I have felt better with what I have been studying, because apart from the fact that I like the degree more, I know that I can project myself working in another place that is not an office. I can imagine myself working in the research area or perhaps in the industry. The issue of salary is not an issue for me, since if I can live correctly with the salary I earn in the future, I am satisfied. Regarding the schedule, it would be very comfortable for me if it wasn't so early, because I really like to sleep, and simply waking up very early makes it hard for me to function properly during the day. An example of...

POST 2: THE BEST HOLIDAYS / CONCERT I'VE HAD

Imagen
The best concert I've ever had is a Clan of Xymox concert at Club Blondie. Clan of Xymox is a Dutch band, known for pioneering a musical style: darkwave. The concert was in 2019 at a time when I was going through a strong depression, but I was encouraged to go to this concert, because I really liked the band and it was only eight thousand Chilean pesos. The band's opening act was a goth band called Jesus Complex, I wasn't really looking forward to seeing them, but they put on a fiery show as they played and sang, leaving an atmosphere eager to see what was to come soon. I very much remember the sound of the bass and synths, plus the atmosphere of Club Blondie, which was at full capacity and full of goth people. After the concert I was very ecstatic and happy, and besides, since it was at Club Blondie, we could stay at the post-show party inside the same disco, where they would play post-punk, gothic, EBM, industrial music, among other genres. .. Thanks for readi...

POST 1: A COUNTRY I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT

Imagen
A country that I would like to visit is Iceland. Iceland is a country known for its weather, its volcanoes, being an island, its language, and its music. The main reason why I would like to visit Iceland, is because of its landscapes and its northern lights. It should be noted that its inhabitants do not receive visitors very well, so it would not be entirely appropriate to live or study for a time in the country. Among other things, I like musical artists from Iceland, such as Björk or the Icelandic band, Sigur Rós. Among other countries that I might like to visit, there may be some that are not so urbanized and have beautiful landscapes, such as Norway, Finland, Sweden, Greenland, Denmark, etc. Within Latin America you can still find beautiful landscapes, and one of the countries that can be visited is Chile, which has all kinds of climate, landscapes and beaches throughout the country. See you soon!

Blog Post 6: Choice of Two Topics (Choose one of the two)

Tell us about an expert/person in your field that you admire One of the scientists I have admired since my school education is the American physicist Robert Millikan. Robert Millikan graduated from Oberlin and did his Ph.D. in physics at Columbia University.  He was part of the United States Army, and had three children with his wife Greta Ervin Blanchard. They had three sons: Clark Blanchard, Glenn Allen, and Max Franklin. Robert Millikan He is world-renowned for his work with the electron, since he was the one who, through his experiment of the fall of the drop of oil, delivered the first numerical value of the charge of the electron. In addition to its photoelectric effect. This experiment earned him the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1923. Also within her scientific career, she was recognized for doing research with cosmic rays. Post 5: How Can Your Major Make the World a Better Place

Good night! Along with saying hello, Today I will talk about how my career could contribute to the world and society. My career is Chemistry and at this point of my career, I feel that I do not have the necessary knowledge to be able to do a deep analysis. However, one of the things that I think I could contribute to the world is recycling. Recycling based on garbage that is simply thrown away and not used again. One of those things is fruit peels or plastics. Plastics are one of the biggest sources of pollution on the planet, degrading over thousands of years and being thrown away as if they were occasionally harmless. At this point, due to consumerism and capitalism in the world, reducing plastic wrap and changing economic policies is complicated. But recycling can be implemented in a good way, starting from home and promoting knowledge. See you on Wednesday with the WebQuest. Cheers!
